Facelift (rhytidectomy) is the removal of skin and tightening of the underlying tissues of the lower face and neck. As we age gravity, descent of facial fat, and facial expressions result in wrinkling and sagging of facial/neck skin. A facelift is designed to reverse these effects and turn the clock back approximately 10 years. The procedure is performed with scars that are hidden in the hair line and around the ear. Often there is an additional incision under the chin which is well hidden. Facelifts are typically done as an outpatient, but there are options for you to stay overnight at the facility. Expect some facial swelling and bruising which will resolve over the following 1-2 weeks. You will be placed in a head wrap dressing until your follow up appointment the next day, at which time you will be evaluated by Dr. Pflueger and your dressing will be removed. There are many modifications and approaches to facial rejuvenation and your goals and needs will be discussed at your private consultation.
