Blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) addresses excess skin and fat from the upper or lower eyelid. This is done as an outpatient procedure under light anesthesia. The upper eyelid can have excess skin or fat that weighs it down drawing it close to your eyelashes. This can be aesthetically unpleasing to some patients and can even affect your vision. Upper lid blepharoplasty involves removal of excess skin along your natural skin crease to conceal the scar. Lower lid blepharoplasty is a much different operation. It can involve many facets depending on each individual patient. Skin excess, protruding fat, malar bags, and tear trough deformity are some of the issues that our patients are concerned with. There are many different approaches to the lower lid, and your surgery will be tailored to your specific needs and aesthetic goals. With surgery on the eyelids, patients typically have some post-operative swelling and bruising that subsides over the following week. The skin of the eyelid is some of the thinnest skin on our bodies and it typically heals very well. At your private consultation with Dr. Pflueger you will discuss the best options for your desired outcome.
